With the advent of new technologies emerging day by day, one thing that is common in all the technologies and products is that all are being designed by taking into consideration Indian youth. If Indian youth is given so much importance than why not take ideas from the Indian youth itself. Indian youth are the best people to express what they require. So which Indian youth are we talking about? It’s the youth passing out as Engineers every year.
I have seen disconnect between Tech industry/Tech startups and enormous amount of talent available in various engineering students of various colleges of various universities. Both communities can benefit a lot from each other. Think how to bridge this gap?
Statistics say that around 6 lakhs of students pass out as engineers in overall India. Out of 6 lakhs 40% take one year to search a job while 22% take two long years to search a job. But the most interesting fact here is that every year near about 6 lakhs of technological projects are being made which may be innovative or not, which may have practical implementation or not. The problem with most of the engineering students that even includes me is that we engineers make project for the sake of making it or it is part of curriculum or to get rid of engineering studies and get a satisfactory job. For this we outsource our project making to some person who holds a business of making projects. So industries don’t take we “The engineers” seriously. Facts say that those students who get placed from campus get attractive salaries while those who don’t get 8k-10k or some may not even get that.
We engineering students should take our projects sincerely and generate a passion to start up own business through this project. Today companies are thirsty for new and innovative technologies so we can provide them with not only water but 6 lakh engineers can provide them with sea of technological projects. So while selecting the project, select as in you want to enter into business and market your own project. Think of practically implementing it rather than just dreaming about it. Engineers give demo in front of an external professor who asks us basic questions about the project but try to give this demo in front of an investor or some company from business man point of view. So a platform must be provided to all engineers so that they can become businessmen of tomorrow. The basic of every business is to understand the needs of the customers and innovate accordingly. So we engineers should take above point into consideration and select appropriate project.
99.5% of people want a safe and secure job and don’t want to take risk but the rest 0.5% of the people who take risk are the best in the industry today. The fantasy of the above statement is that 99.5% works under 0.5%. So it has been rightly said that “Watching a dream is not a sin until and unless you wake up and start working hard for it. “
“You need not be the best to start but to be the best you must start somewhere.”
So decide who requires whom among Industry and Engineers.
